Urge AI · Privacy policy
Last updated 30 October 2026. Applies to the Urge AI Android app (com.thedigitalhope.urgeai) and the Urge AI web app at thedigitalhope.com/urge-ai-live/.
The short version. What you write in Urge AI is private. You can use it without an account, and then your notes never leave your phone except when the app asks the AI to read them. If you sign in, your notes are saved to your account so they follow you to other devices, and only you can read them. We don’t show ads, we don’t sell or share your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
Who we are
Urge AI is made by The Digital Hope (thedigitalhope.com), run by Sai Subramaniam in Chennai, India. Questions about this policy or your data: saimaniam197@gmail.com.
What the app keeps
- Your answers from setup: how you describe yourself (woman, man, non-binary or prefer not to say), your goal, when you want to stop, how ready you feel, and what’s hardest. Your gender is only used to word things for you.
- What you log: urges, the notes you write before and after, the reasons and places you tick, slips, challenges you take on, and the realizations and actions the app builds from them.
- Your email address, only if you choose to sign in.
We don’t collect your name, phone number, contacts, location, photos or browsing history. The app has no advertising or tracking code.
Where it’s stored
- Without an account: everything stays in the app’s storage on your device. We can’t see it.
- With an account: a copy is saved in our database at Supabase, our database provider, so it syncs across your devices. Access is locked to your account: no other user can read it. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
When the AI reads your notes
Some features, like the follow-up question after a note and your Inner Map, send the relevant notes to our server (hosted on Vercel), which passes them to Google’s Gemini AI to write a reply. We currently use Gemini’s free tier. Under Google’s terms for it, Google may use what it receives to improve its products, and human reviewers may read some of it. Only the notes needed for that reply are sent, never your email address or account. So please don’t put your name or anything that identifies you into your notes. Our server doesn’t save your notes. It only holds your IP address in memory for a minute to stop the service being flooded. If the AI can’t be reached, the app works from your notes on your device instead.
Sign-in emails
If you sign in, we email you a one-time link. We use your email only for signing in. No newsletters, and we never pass it to anyone.
Who else handles your data
Only the services needed to run the app: Supabase (accounts and saved notes), Vercel (hosting) and Google Gemini (AI replies, under the free-tier terms above). We don’t sell, rent or share your data with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else.
Deleting your data
- With an account: go to thedigitalhope.com/account, sign in and tap “Delete my account and everything in it”. This deletes your account and every note at once, permanently.
- Without an account: uninstall the app or clear its storage, and it’s gone.
- You can also email us and we’ll delete it for you within 30 days.
We keep your data only while your account exists.
Age
Urge AI is for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a minor has used it, email us and we’ll delete the data.
Not medical care
Urge AI is a self-help tool, not a medical device, and it doesn’t diagnose or treat anything. If you’re in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency services or a helpline: in India, Tele-MANAS at 14416; in the US, call or text 988; elsewhere, findahelpline.com.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell you in the app.
